Arthur Joel

​Joel grew up in the Pacific Northwest, in a family business of remodels, rehabs, and new construction projects.  At just 8 years old he was nailing down subfloor and taking an interest in construction.  The architecture in that area began to captivate him, and endless hours were spent sketching on graph paper.  Since those beginnings he has worked as a laborer, designer, draftsman, general contractor and architect.  The experience in all facets of a project shines through in his current work.  Joel attended undergrad at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, graduating with a Bachelors in CADD/Architecture.  He then attended Graduate school at the University of Kansas, placing in International Design Competitions and earning a Master of Architecture degree. ​ Joel has over 20 year of expierience in the field, including over 10 years at Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, working on Commercial, Federal, and Aviation architecture projects for clients all over the globe. ​ Joel has worked on various residential projects since 2005, including remodels, additions, and new construction projects.  He started focusing on residential full time in 2017, with the founding of Herman Design+Build.  When not on site or in the office, Joel dedicates his time to his Wife, their two energetic sons, and beautiful daughter.  He coaches several different youth sports programs, and supports the KC mountain bike trail system through Urban Trail Co.
